Job Summary

This Lead Technology Cloud Engineer role is responsible for the implementation and support of cloud and managed application services. The Engineer filling this role will be a highly-skilled, application-oriented specialist who is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Cloud technologies and will provide superior support for product offerings in Cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and similar technologies. They will need to have working knowledge of Unix and Windows systems and will provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance within their peer group. They will work in an Operations Center environment which includes configuration, maintenance, and support on behalf of our clients in a 24x7 environment. The engineer in this role will work closely with the Command, Problem Management, and Automation Centers to improve the client experience through efficient and effective resolution of client incidents and requests and will participate in CenturyLink’s business life cycle (i.e. from potential customer to on-boarding to steady-state support, etc.) to ensure an optimal customer experience along with supportability and profitability to the Company.· They will create bold and radical new approaches to automate tasks and reporting systems to enhance the efficiency of the company and organization.

This role will also drive the adherence to corporate-defined global processes and initiatives within the team and champion these efforts within the organization. This individual will model all aspects of our Vision, Mission and Unifying Principles and will inspire others in those ideals.

Job Description

  • Perform hands-on technical support for customers in public and private cloud environments.

  • Articulately communicate with upper-management as well as customer technical resources, dynamically adjusting the message to the targeted audience.

  • Work in a cross-functional team that may consist of Systems Engineers, Project Managers, Network and Security engineers, etc.

  • Provide detailed technical design and environment documentation.

  • Drive a passion for cloud technologies and platforms. The ideal candidate must be able to showcase and talk to the advantages of cloud platforms for an organization.

  • Possess application knowledge of standard web platforms and application development lifecycle.

  • Continued learning of cloud platforms internally and externally as the competitive landscape grows and changes.

  • Deliver superior client service through professional, comprehensive, and timely communication for all client-related activities


  • Comprehensive and working knowledge of Network and Hosting data center architecture including technologies such as WAN, Hosted Area Network, Load Balancing, Security, Compute and OS architectures, J2EE Web Application platforms, and Database (MS SQL, MYSQL, Oracle) systems

  • Strong skills in application, computing, and architecture/design

  • Experience with AWS, Azure or Google cloud service offerings preferred, certifications ideal

  • Ability to present and engage with customers to explain technical details to a technical and non-technical audience

  • Experience with configuration management systems and/or software lifecycle tools

  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle processes and deployment tools

  • Experience with Ansible, scripting, and automation preferred

  • Excellent verbal, written, problem-solving and analytical skills
