Job Summary

The Business Intelligence Management position is primarily focused on the development and maintenance of our data and application platforms. This team sits within the business team of Access Planning and is not part of IT. This leader will manage, lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Developers and Analysts. The position requires exceptional interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, a high comfort level with dynamically shifting priorities, and a curiosity and willingness to not only solve business problems but identify new business opportunities to drive profit margin and cash flow. This position includes regular communication and interaction with multiple layers of CenturyLink up to and including the Senior Vice President layer.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a high-performance team of Developers/Analysts:

o Hire and retain talent in the correct roles

o Develop and maintain proper team behavior and culture

o Set team and direct report performance management goals, monitor progress, and provide frequent feedback

o Delegate and hold direct reports accountable

o Empower direct reports to make decisions, act, and take appropriate risk

o Exemplify CenturyLink’s Unifying Principles (Fairness, Honesty & Integrity, Commitment to Excellence, Positive Attitude, Respect, Faith, and Perseverance)

  • Develop, deploy, and oversee business Intelligence tools and data strategies to deliver on monthly and annual performance budgets and targets

  • Manage internal and external expectations across operational and financial activities

  • Collaborate with peers, partners, and stakeholders to refine and enhance existing process and/or develop new processes to deliver on business objectives

  • Collect, organize, and analyze data to assess operational process and financial performance

  • Collaborate with leadership and stakeholder to develop new opportunities to optimize the network, enable revenue, and maximize cash flow

  • Prepare and present briefing materials for consumption by senior leadership up to the Senior Vice President layer

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of professional work experience or significant demonstrated work level experience.

  • SQL and SSIS/SSRS Development Experience

  • Demonstrated capacity to focus and deliver on objectives in a dynamic, multi-faceted, fast-paced environment

  • Prior experience developing and evaluating complex network performance criteria and measurement methods through statistical evaluation

  • Exceptional ability to work effectively in groups with disparate priorities and operational targets

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across organizational boundaries

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Prior experience managing a reoccurring budget

  • Demonstrated Database/Application development and performance management experience across complex data eco-system.

  • Exceptional analytical skill and business acumen

  • Above average Microsoft Office Stack experience, specifically in T-SQL, SSMS, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Programing language, framework, and markup experience along with database and application architecture fundamentals.

  • Skills in data analytics and statistical measurement and evaluation

  • Team player with a passion for delivery and service of expectation

  • Prior experience leading others through change


  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in fields of study including Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, or Accounting

  • Project Management and Lean/Six Sigma belt certification

  • 5+ years of work experience in the Full Stack Development

  • Languages/Markup/Framework: T-SQL, PL-SQL, C#, ASP.Net MVC, Angular, Javascript, and CSS

  • Prior people management leadership experience including recruitment, on-/off-boarding, goal setting, and performance management

  • Extensive data analysis skills with a working-level proficiency in writing complex SQL queries including SSIS/ETL work, and Stored Procedures.

  • Knowledge of telecommunication landscape and operating principles

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, operating, and optimizing operational processes to deliver on operational and/or financial objectives

  • Prior experience developing strategic business cases

  • Experience data merger experience

  • Experience in modeling and sensitivity analysis
