Job Description


  • Serve as the network designer supporting Global Renew and Refresh (GRR) program

  • Responsible for a full range of complex first article network designs encompassing multiple technologies that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines

  • Responsible for performing a full range of upgrades to the existing network architecture

  • Develop robust standards, templates, and network documentation

  • Utilize tools to analyze software and hardware equipment and formulate cost-effective solutions maximizing the use of industry standards and protocols, COTS network appliances and/or open-source software applications

  • Work with stakeholders as well as technical and analytical counterparts to define constraints, develop requirements, create system requirement documents, and concept of operations documentation

  • Analyze requirements as well as evaluate problems of workflow and organization to plan and develop appropriate corrective action.

  • Produce network device scripts based on customer requirements

  • Guide engineers and other staff in design or implementation of network solutions

  • Conduct integration and testing of network hardware and software

  • Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation

  • Provide network-engineering and Type 1 cryptographic solutions to include designs, requirements gathering, testing, implementation, documentation and supportability

  • Provide implementation support as necessary

  • Provide fourth tier support, assisting with troubleshooting and resolving network issues

  • Follow all customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policies



  • Active TS/SCI with Poly Required

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and four (4) to seven (7) years of progressive experience

  • Seven years of technical network related experience is required

  • Demonstrated experience with network design and creating relevant network documentation

  • Demonstrated advance level hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network services, equipment and devices, such as Switches, Routers, Servers, Cables, Racks, and Firewalls

  • In-depth understanding of the OSI 7 layer network communications model and core technologies, concepts, protocols, and applications such as: LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, ICMP, HTTP, SFTP, SSH, SNMP, VPNs, Ethernet, Frame Relay, Latency, QoS

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Routing and Switching systems (Cisco or Juniper); understanding of Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, and GLRP)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of common operating systems: Windows, Cisco IOS, UNIX, Linux

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Information Assurance concepts, including both government and commercial encryption techniques (e.g. AES/DES), especially IPSec protocols such as IKE and ISAKMP.

  • Experience applying rigorous System Engineering practice to requirement flow-down and Verification & Validation (V&V)

  • Experience with Type 1 cryptographic equipment from both an engineering and policy perspective

  • Demonstrated experience with written communication and presentation skills

  • Certifications required : CCNA or CCDP

Desired Skills:

  • Ten years of experience related to designing, installing, and troubleshooting networks.

  • Relevant industry certifications or Network Specialist training highly desirable, such as: MCSE, CCNP, CCIE, CNE, JCIE, ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000, CCVP, CCSP, CCIP, CCDP, JNCIS/P

  • Experience with government networks and secure communications desirable

  • Experience with Peer Review and/or briefing the Network Engineering Review Board

  • Experience with network performance optimization

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Python language

  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Self-starter and work well in a high performance team environment

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, constantly changing environment

  • Demonstrated experience taking initiative and working with little or no supervision
