Job Summary

The candidate would perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation, testing and training tasks to ensure the network performance meets customer requirements, in a fully functional and isolated lab environment.

Job Description

  • Follow operational documentation including guidelines, policies, processes, and standards.

  • Interpret, follow, and critique method of procedure (MOP) related to any job function or equipment for which technicians are responsible.

  • Excellent technical, high level telecommunication knowledge of inside plant environment (to include fiber, DWDM, SONET, IP, Ethernet, switching technologies and power with troubleshooting and installation experience in these technologies

  • Must be able to learn new technologies that are continually being added to the network to meet the needs of the customer base

  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: moving objects weighing at least 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work well with others to achieve common goals and to foster a cooperative climate

  • Experience and knowledge of material and tools used by network technicians.

  • Must be able to demonstrate computer skills. Should have ability to input data in spreadsheets, word docs and send as email attachment.

  • Follow operational documentation including guidelines, policies, processes, and standards.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the lab network and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, Optic Connectivity, etc.)

  • Design, setup and configure complex switching environments

  • Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, Ether-Channel (Bonding), etc.

  • Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems.

Qualifications

  • BICSI or PE certification

  • Field installation or test and turn up experience

  • Able to conduct testing of network elements utilizing test sets

  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills

  • Able to work independently and in a multi-disciplined team environment

  • Flexible work schedule as needed

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience

Security Requirements

  • US Citizenship required

  • Active TS/SCI

  • Must maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information
