The Engineer II- Federal position will be responsible for multiple technical aspects of engineering and implementation projects as well as developing procedures and techniques to improve process efficiency. This position also encompasses administrative activities concerning the creation, maintenance, change management, and quality control of the scope of work and associated documentation.
Responsible for reviewing all aspects and areas of assigned projects
Make sure that projects are ready for deployment according to schedules
Be able to manage Cable Running Lists (CRL’s)
Create Engineering Design Packages (EDP) based on site survey data, engineering concepts, industry standards, and other factors.
Interpret EDP redlines and create or update site As-Builts
Consolidate Turn Over Documents (TOD) and other customer deliverables
Maintain documents that monitor capacity for the network such as port capacity, bandwidth, etc.
Maintain a centralized repository for document control
Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with and offering to help others
Must be able to communicate effectively
Exhibit integrity, self-motivation, and problem solving skills
Learns and applies new information quickly and effectively
Minimal local travel may be required
Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2014 or later
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of Visio 2007 or later
Proven technical writing ability is required
Project management experience a plus
Some level of experience with at least one of the following technical areas is required, but preferably multiple areas:
Optical Transport (DWDM, OTN, SONET/SDH, PDH, etc.)
Networks (TCP/IP, L2, L3, VPLS, etc.)
Systems (Servers, Storage, Virtualization, etc.)
Inside Plant (ISP) installation and field engineering
High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical degree or certification preferred
US Citizenship required
Must maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security re-investigation)
