Job Summary

Perform network engineering on the Traffic Engineering team supporting CenturyLink IP/MPLS networks. This engineer is responsible for the top level support of the platforms and will act as Senior Engineer for the IP/MPLS Operations Engineering team working with Content Delivery, the Lab, Architecture, Vendors, and Planning on complex troubleshooting issues, new products, services, and equipment being introduced as well as integration of the various regions of networks.

The team member will set direction and design for the management of CenturyLink networks, and partner with others to ensure the evolution of the CenturyLink data networks follows a path that can be efficiently and reliably operated.

This role will involve on call work.


• TCP/IP fundamentals, IP subnetting and routing principles.

• Working experience with routing and switching technologies: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, LDP, RSVP, Multicast protocols, Switching technologies (VLAN/Trunking)

• Detailed understanding of Layer 2 protocols and technologies.

• Familiar with network management and analysis tools such as SolarWinds, Netcool or Arbor. Deepfield and Packet Design experience preferred.

• Strong problem solving skills. Should be able to work in high pressure situations.

• Excellent communication and writing skills. Should be able to work individually and in group.

Masters or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
