The Senior Manager of Revenue Technical Accounting (Sr Manager, Accounting) will be a member of the North America Revenue Accounting and Reporting team and will interface with Legal, Sales, Business Finance, Tax, SEC Reporting, Billing, Technical Accounting, regional accounting teams, internal and external auditors, and individuals at multiple levels and locations in the organization.
This position is responsible for CenturyLink’s global technical accounting matters related to revenue recognition, ensuring that all accounting policies and practices associated with revenue and related financial account balances are in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP). Activities for this role include maintaining a thorough understanding of current accounting pronouncements and emerging issues (including Accounting Standards Codification (“ASC”) 606 implementation requirements and issues), acquiring and reviewing “non-standard” contracts, applying the appropriate accounting guidance when preparing accounting memos (prescribing a specific/detailed accounting treatment and incorporating into the Company’s revenue accounting policies as needed), presenting prescribed accounting treatments (memos) to the Senior Director of Accounting Transformation, Assistant Controller and Controller , maintaining a non-standard contract review and sign-off log, and guiding/training Revenue Accounting and regional accounting team members in the proper accounting for non-standard contracts (i.e. operationalizing the systems/processes/policies necessary for non-standard contract accounting).
Provides clear, concise technical guidance on new and emerging accounting and reporting issues from regulatory bodies (FASB, AICPA, SEC, NAIC, and IASB) to internal business partners and management where there are implications for CenturyLink revenue accounting.
Leads/assists business in implementing new requirements to facilitate proper revenue accounting treatment, including any changes in accounting principles, policies or estimates. ,
Provides technical accounting guidance to global business areas (NA, APAC, EMEA and LATAM) related to transactions and/or other relevant circumstances or events. Areas of research may include but are not limited to: M&A activity, complex investment/sale transactions, capacity and exchange agreements, and evaluation of appropriate accounting for long-term contracts or amendments thereto.
Responsible for collaborating with the SEC Reporting and Business Process teams to update accounting policies and CenturyLink’s technical research database for recent developments and research work performed.
Provides training as needed to CenturyLink Finance staff on appropriate revenue accounting methods.
Research technical accounting matters associated with review of material or non-standard customer contracts and prepare supporting memos (containing both a conclusion and proposed approach to implementing the recommended treatment).
Collaborate with other teams (e.g. Legal, Sales, Business Finance, Tax, SEC Reporting, Billing, Technical Accounting) to provide accounting/reporting guidance or assistance with projects (e.g. forecasting, financings, valuations, migrations, etc.).

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required. Bachelor's Degree and 6-8 years of relevant job experience with similar essential duties. Excellent verbal and written skills.
