Job Summary

The Product Manager II (PM) is responsible for supporting Professional and Custom Managed Service solutions and associated customer agreements. The role is primarily “pre-sale” focused – working with technical sales teams to gain an understanding of the customer requirements (potentially across data, voice, wireless, and wi-fi capabilities) and then developing a suitable customer proposal using third-party vendors and internal capabilities. Larger projects do involve more significant post-sale support (change requests, contract amendments, billing, etc.).

The PM will be primarily responsible for managed service product lines ensuring product definition, communication of product scope, and driving agreements through Commercial Services and Legal to closure with client. The other product management responsibilities include supporting the planning and execution of the overall product lifecycle and serving as both a business and technical product expert. The person in this position will be required to closely align themselves with Sales, Sales Technical Support, Offer Management, Legal, Procurement, Operations, IT, Product Development, Marketing, and Finance to drive success. Job Description

  • Manages specific customer opportunities within the data, voice and or wireless networking arenas from quote to cash.

  • Gathers, evaluates, and defines scope for customer network requirements by working with Sales, Sales Engineering, Solution Architects and Network Operations teams.

  • Responds to proposals or sales requests and translates requirements into customer proposal/SOW and ensures the proposal can be successfully executed by “operational” organizations if contracted

  • Negotiates business terms and conditions for customer and vendor contracts. Responsible for vendor management including sourcing, pricing, and daily ‘deal-by-deal’ negotiations for select services

  • Supports pricing, contracts, business case development, responding to customer technical questions, and managing deal Change Requests.

  • Works with key stakeholders across the entire company which may include: Sales, Sales Technical Support, Offer Management, Legal, Procurement, Operations, IT, Product Development, Marketing, and Finance.

  • Supports business case development and ongoing program financial reviews to ensure the project financials (costs and revenues) are achieved.

  • Ensures supporting processes and systems associated with the product are current and optimized to reduce product cost basis.

  • Provides input to Professional Service strategy and product roadmap and creates tactical plans to deliver program roadmap.

  • Provide comprehensive 4 Ps approach to product line oversight, ensure business efficiency including pricing coordination, process work, product placement, marketing promotion coordination, technology refresh, and underlying costs basis management

  • Contributes ideas and recommendations toward Professional Services products, customer targeting, product positioning, and program thresholds.

  • Benchmarks company products to competitor products. Stays up-to-date with industry news, company consolidations and competitive landscape.

  • Assist in the development of positioning and go-to market plans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4-7+ years related experience

  • Experience with Telecommunications technology and operations strongly preferred.

  • Drives creativity and productivity by displaying a positive, “can do” attitude.

  • Ability to drive results both individually and in a matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated success in managing and prioritizing multiple projects/tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to effectively draft and negotiate agreements such as RFP’s, MSA’s and or SOW’s.

  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities

  • Exhibits a strong sense of urgency, makes fact-based decisions quickly and efficiently

  • Comfortable working with remote peers and/or managers

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Skype, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) applications

Preferred Requirements

  • Extensive Professional Services experience within the telecommunications industry.

  • Experience with Vendor Management.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com.

Bachelors or Equivalent
