CenturyLink seeks an experienced and innovative Lead Creative Designer with a passion for creating simple, beautiful and engaging visual stories from top level campaign concepts, to paid media advertising, and everything in between. This role combines creativity and strategy to develop leading-edge creative concepts fresh concepts and storytelling ideas that meet project goals and maximize the impact of each marketing message. The candidate is a leader, tightly partnering with the creative director, design manager, copywriters to develop creative concepts and mentor junior designers on creative executions across multiple channels. Job Description

As a Lead Designer, the candidate will be responsible for:

  • Execute and shepherd art direction from concept and executive buy-in through all stages of creative development, production and post-production—ensuring faithful execution, quality, and brand consistency all the way

  • Execute across a wide range of output, from the big one-off campaigns, to the tactical everyday deliverables

  • Help define and evolve our visual identity, and advocate its application across different products and platforms

  • Work closely with campaign managers and project managers to meet established SLAs and deadlines

  • Advise business partners on creative and technical recommendations and/or issues as needed

  • Make concept and creative presentations to business partners as needed

  • Be an active member of a larger design team, participate in design critiques and peer reviews

  • Create everything from integrated campaigns to projects that involve digital, video, print etc.

  • Interface with external resources that may be involved in creative or production

  • Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics and layouts; participate in reviews with internal clients

  • Partner with copywriting and creative strategists to take briefs and turn them into big, original, culturally vibrant ideas

  • Develop and maintain relationships with best-in-class visual partners, including photographers, directors, production, etc.

  • Push the brand and our marketing practice into new media, experimenting, testing and tracking

  • Be comfortable with projects that may not be completely defined and use a scrappy, resourceful approach to bring definition and drive results when needed

  • Develop and explore a variety of concepts within a set period of time, balance creativity and attention to detail with swift execution

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience at an ad agency or in-house design department

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

  • A portfolio that demonstrates proven experience launching major campaigns and that you know how to create big ideas across a variety of media (interactive, digital, social, video)

  • An impeccable taste in current design trends and visual content

  • Expert-level talent in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator a must). Knowledge of HTML, After Effects, FinalCut Pro a plus

  • Strong understanding of graphic design principles, methods and practices, as well as all phases of design, production, and delivery for digital and print marketing/corporate materials

  • Proven experience developing strategically grounded, creative ideas across digital and traditional media, for major brands

  • Experience art directing for photo, video, and CG production and all associated processes

  • Self-driven with the ability to sometimes create work in isolation, and propel work forward

  • Ability to thoughtfully and persuasively articulate creative concepts to cross-functional teams

  • Excellent design skills, strong sense of typography, attention to detail, and ability to adhere to brand style guide
